Rapturous Vancouver Island Chamber Music Festival 2016 will Delight Concertgoers By Kerilie McDowall The Nanaimo Conservatory of Music presents this year’s 2016 Vancouver Island Chamber Music Festival in Nanaimo and will present the Borealis String Quartet on Gabriola Island in collaboration with Lulu Performing Arts.
=0D=0A=Electrifying and spectacular, The Vancouver Island Chamber Music Festival takes place April 14-16th at the Nanaimo Entertainment Centre at 46 Nicol St. The festival offers up top BC performers to suit all tastes ranging from jazz, Argentinian Tango, popular music and more, all under the umbrella of classical chamber music.
=0D=0A=Tickets are available at the Port Theatre at 125 Front St. and 250-754-8550 and will also be available at the door. Tickets are $20 per show and $50 for a three day festival pass.
=0D=0A=Shows will take place at 7:30 pm on Thursday, Friday and Saturday with a 2:00 performance on Saturday.
=0D=0A=The festival features three heavenly days of passionate classical chamber music and fun! Artists include the Borealis String Quartet (a co-production with Lulu Performing Arts) with multi-award winning jazz pianist David Braid, the Bourgeoise Trio, the Vancouver String Quartet, danceable Argentinian Tango from Orquesta Paraguas, the outstanding Pinnacle Brass quintet that features five of the island’s top brass musicians, flute and guitar from L’Aube Enchanteé featuring flautist Bernard Blary with guitarist Alec Pearson and a fantastic percussion group, the South Island Percussion Unit, that will get your toes tapping!
=0D=0A=In addition, Vancouver Island Chamber Music Festival Music Director Pippa Williams says that some of the Vancouver Island Chamber Music Festival’s ensembles will be doing some outreach at local senior homes and schools within our local community. The musicians are top classical performers from BC who will astound you and take your breath away with their virtuosic and dynamic performances of both the classics and original works.
