DESCRIPTION;ENCODING=QUOTED-PRINTABLE:Local filmmaker Krista Loughton has been working on a documentary about homelessness and addiction for the past seven years called US AND THEM. Loughton has been very encouraged by the amount of support her project has received to date. At this point, she's excited to announce that the first cut of the film has received the attention of multi-award-winning filmmaker, Jennifer Abbott (Co-Director/Editor, THE CORPORATION & Executive Producer/Editor, I AM), one of Canada's best documentarians. Abbott saw the potential in this important story, and is now working as a mentor, story consultant, and editor to help take US AND THEM to the next level and complete the film.=0D=0A=

US AND THEM deeply examines the root causes of addiction via the participation of Dr. Gabor Maté, best-selling author of In the Realm of Hungry Ghosts: Close Encounters with Addiction. By breaking down barriers and challenging stereotypes about homelessness, poverty, and addiction, Loughton's great hope is that her story will make a difference in the lives of our community’s most vulnerable. The goal is to reach a broad spectrum of people in an engaging, powerful, and often humorous way - changing minds, opening hearts and inspiring action!=0D=0A=

a screening of previous clips of work by Abbott=0D=0A=
an exclusive new scene from US AND THEM=0D=0A=
a question and answer session with the filmmakers=0D=0A=

The formal part of the evening will be complete by 8pm and will evolve into a relaxed meet-and-greet where people will have the opportunity to speak with Loughton and Abbott individually.=0D=0A=

There is a "Can't Make It" donation option on the ticket-purchasing page (link below) for those who wish to support but are unable to attend. Additionally, philanthropic donations are most welcome.=0D=0A=

Currently Loughton is fundraising to complete the final stages of the film which will be complete this fall.  All profits from US AND THEM will be donated back to service providers who offer rehabilitative and support services to our street community.  =0D=0A=
