Tony Turner is a singer-songwriter and resident of Nanaimo. For decades he honed his song craft in the Ottawa folk music scene before moving to Vancouver Island in 2017. With a rich baritone singing voice, his beloved acoustic guitar and harmonica, Tony walks a thoughtful and sometimes humorous musical path with his portraits of nature, working folks and modern society.
=0D=0A=Tony has recorded three critically acclaimed CDs of original compositions. His shows are an entertaining mix of original material and well-chosen tunes from past decades.
=0D=0A=Joining Tony on stage are Arlene Carson (accordion, piano and vocals) and Joe Spinelli on upright bass. Note: the start time listed is for the trio's feature performance. A jam session begins at 6:30 pm followed by an open stage at 7 pm and then the feature performance at 9 pm.
=0D=0A=In 2015 Tony’s much-loved anthem Circle of Song was published in Rise Again, the sequel to the popular Rise Up Singing folk songbook. In 2016 Tony was awarded a Spirit of Folk award from Folk Alliance International and in 2017 a volunteer award was named in his honour.
