LOCATION:Irish Times Pub :: 1200 Government Street Victoria,
DESCRIPTION;ENCODING=QUOTED-PRINTABLE:
Tom Hooper is best known as a lead singer and songwriter from the Canadian pop/folk group The Grapes of Wrath, a multi-platinum selling band whose songs were staples of radio and video channels in the 80's and 90's.

His winning live performances are a testament to his long-lived career. He played his first concert at his seventh grade dance in his hometown of Kelowna BC, then before his voice had even changed, released a single in 1981 with his punk band Gentlemen of Horror (the rare record is now highly sought after, a copy recently sold for over 1000$ on Ebay.) He was signed with his band The Grapes of Wrath to their first record contract with Vancouver's fabled Nettwerk Productions, at the age of eighteen, just before he finished high school.

After touring throughout North America and Europe for many years, Tom settled on Salt Spring Island where he has recorded and released three solo albums. He tours as a keyboard player with legendary band 54/40, and with his original bandmates Grapes of Wrath who have recently reunited and recorded a new CD due to be released in February 2013.

He is loved for his unconventional choice of cover songs from Burt Bacharach, Willie Nelson, Leon Russell, The Beatles, Carpenters, or whatever inspires him in the moment. http://www.tomhooper.ca/
