<p>All proceeds from the event are shared with SeaLegacy and the Surfrider Vancouver Island Foundation. Cristina Mittermeier is a Mexican-born marine biologist and ethnographic photographer specializing in conservation issues around the ocean and indigenous cultures.</p>=0D=0A=
<p>As a writer and photographer for the past 25 years, most recently on assingment for National Geographic, her works brings into focus the delicate balance between human well-being and healthy eco-systems. She is co-founder, along with her partner, Paul Nicklen, of SeaLegacy, based in Qualicum Beach, BC.</p>
