DESCRIPTION;ENCODING=QUOTED-PRINTABLE:Renowned choreographer and dancer Crystal Pite is a former Victorian who has gone on to have a truly remarkable international career. She formed her own group, Kidd Pivot, in 2002, and has won numerous awards for her imaginative and visually dramatic work, noted for its strong theatrical sense and quicksilver physicality. Last seen in Victoria with the 2009 presentation of her ingenious and daring Dark Matters, Pite and Kidd Pivot return with her newest work, The Tempest Replica. Based on motifs and themes from Shakespeare’s The Tempest, this is a work of revenge and forgiveness, reality and imagination, the civilized and the wild. And those dualities are boldly reflected in two parallel worlds onstage. According to Dance Victoria producer Stephen White, who has twice presented Pite at the Royal, she has the rare ability to take intellectual ideas and render them in physical form. “Crystal is a born performer and her dance pieces masterfully meld drama, comedy, and fantastic physicality with a strong undercurrent of irony,” says White, who loves her newest work. “She is rightfully revered and celebrated.”=0D=0A=
