Amid all the pressure, stress and worry of the Christmas season, there is generosity, anticipation and gratitude. It is this positive spirit that inspires the Peninsula Singers 2019 Christmas Show, Christmas Magic.
=0D=0A=Artistic Director Lena Palermo has carefully selected music from the past and present, to capture the magic of the season. You will experience the powerful harmonies of more than 65 male and female voices, a talented show band and featured performances by young local performers.
=0D=0A=You will hear modern-day classics like ’Sparklejollytwinklejinglely’ from Elf, experience the nostalgia of ‘It’s The Most Wonderful Time of the Year’ and ‘We wish you a Merry Christmas’, remember spiritual favourites like ‘Shepherds Go Tell’, swing to ‘Be boppin Santa Claus’ and get jazzy with ‘Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas’. Enjoy contemporary twists on Chopin and Tchaikovsky with ‘Christmas in a Minute’, and ‘The Nutcracker March’, variations of ‘Jingle Bells’, harmonious music medleys and more.
=0D=0A=The women of the Singers will warm your heart with ‘Sleep in Heavenly Peace’ and the men pay an amusing tribute to rock ‘n roll with, ‘An Elvis Christmas’.
=0D=0A=The Spotlight on Young Artists will feature Jordan Shillingford, who played Sophie in the Peninsula Players’ Mamma Mia and STAGES Dance Company returns with spectacular dance performances.
=0D=0A=The professional show band includes accompanist, Janet Yonge; percussionist, Terry Erskine; and violinist Margaret Dzbik.
=0D=0A=It all comes together with narration and light-hearted humour by Master of Ceremonies, Jim Kingham.
