DESCRIPTION;ENCODING=QUOTED-PRINTABLE:<p>The Art of the Trio series presents George Colligan Trio with guest Nicole Glover at Hermann's Jazz Club on December 12.<br /><br /><strong>George Colligan</strong> is a New York based pianist, organist,drummer, trumpeter, teacher, and bandleader, who is one of the most original and compelling jazz artists of his generation. An award-winning composer (Chamber Music America/Doris Duke Foundation grant recipient) and player (winner, Jazzconnect.com Jazz Competition), Colligan is highly in demand as a sideman, having worked with players like Cassandra Wilson, Don Byron, Buster Williams, and Lonnie Plaxico, both on the bandstand and in recording sessions (appearing on over 100 CDs). He has released 24 recordings full of his intelligent writing and impressive technique. His latest CD on the Origin Label is called&rdquo;The Endless Mysteries&rdquo; and features Larry Grenadier and Jack DeJohnette. Colligan&rsquo;s musical style incorporates everything from showtunes to funk, from free improvisation to 20th century classical music. His performances include dazzling technique as well as mature restraint. <a href="http://georgecolligan.com">http://georgecolligan.com</a><br /><br /><strong>Nicole Glover</strong>&rsquo;s journey in music began when her father introduced her to improvised music at a young age.&nbsp; She began playing the clarinet at the age of ten, transitioning to tenor saxophone the following year.<br /><br />Her interest and curiosity for music began to blossom in high school. She became involved in a variety of performance ensembles, both within her school and in the community. In 2007, Nicole joined the Pacific Crest Jazz Orchestra directed by Thara Memory. This competitive ensemble granted her the opportunity to travel the country and perform at several renowned jazz festivals, including the Monterey Jazz Festival for two consecutive years. In 2009, Nicole was one of 19 students from across the nation to be selected for the Next Generation Jazz Orchestra, who embarked on a national tour that involved performances with Bobby Watson and Julian Lage, concluding with a performance at the Monterey Jazz Festival with Wynton Marsalis.<br /><br />Throughout her musical career, Nicole has had the pleasure of performing with such great musicians as Mulgrew Miller, Rich Perry, Wynton Marsalis, Esperanza Spalding, Kenny Garrett, George Colligan, Geoffrey Keezer, Bobby Watson, Mike Clark, Bill Stewart, Jimmy Greene, Essiet Essiet, Mel Brown, Julian Lage, Obo Addy, Rob Scheps, Red Holloway, Terell Stafford, Helen Sung, Dana Hall, Scotty Barnhart, and Thara Memory. http://www.nicoleglover.com</p>
