The “Beltone Jazz Series” is thrilled to host a=0D=0A=
very special evening of music composed by Greg Bush, all performed by the high powered=0D=0A=
Arrowsmith Big Band.=0D=0A=

Greg is a talented jazz musician and professor of music in the Jazz Studies program at=0D=0A=
Vancouver Island University in Nanaimo. He’s also known around the valley as the music=0D=0A=
director and conductor of the Georgia Strait Big Band.=0D=0A=
=0D=0A=
The music from the concert will be drawn from two suites of music written for a jazz=0D=0A=
orchestra: The “Vancouver Island Suite” and the “Portrait of Five Jazz Masters”.=0D=0A=
The “Vancouver Island Suite” is influenced by the folk melodies and rhythms of the indigenous=0D=0A=
people and early settlers of Vancouver Island. References to the folk melodies and rhythms of=0D=0A=
First Nations, Italian, Spanish and Asiatic people are cleverly arranged and presented in a jazz style that is uniquely Canadian.=0D=0A=

“A Portrait of Five Jazz Masters” pays tribute to five very important jazz musicians who have=0D=0A=
inspired and influenced Greg throughout his musical career. Showcasing the amazing talent of=0D=0A=
the members of the Arrowsmith Big Band this special Sunday performance will be the world=0D=0A=
premiere of some brand new music.=0D=0A=

The Beltone Jazz Series is a family friendly venue, located at The Little Red Church hall in=0D=0A=
Comox. Tea, coffee, soft beverages, and goodies will be available by donation with the proceeds going to the Comox Valley Therapeutic Riding Society.=0D=0A=
