DESCRIPTION;ENCODING=QUOTED-PRINTABLE:What started as a pick-up hockey game of Oak Bay High grads back in town over the holidays has become a Boxing Day tradition not to be missed. The family friendly event has grown into a 64 player hockey tournament with 4 teams vying for the Xmas Cup Trophy - all in support of a good cause. Gather your family and friends for a great night of hockey at 5 pm Boxing Day with all proceeds going to Victoria Hospice. =0D=0A=

The tournament features a wide range of skill levels and ages from guys who play once a year to Oak Bay grads and their dads. But there are also pro-level players like Mark Walton, Captain of the Victoria Cougars and Nate Forster, drafted by the Washington Capitals. “I have a line-up of guys wanting to play”, says event organizer Sean Tackaberry.=0D=0A=

“We realized we could do something really positive with this event and so we started raising money for charities that have really helped our friends and participants” says Tackaberry. “It is also really important to us that the money raised has the biggest impact possible for those who need it, which is one of the reasons we chose Victoria Hospice.” The Oak Bay Xmas Cup has raised over $10,000 to date for various charities including Children’s Health Foundation of Vancouver Island and BC Cancer Foundation. =0D=0A=

The action starts at 5pm, December 26th at the Oak Bay Recreation Centre. The mini tournament will be broken into 4 – 1hr games, 2 round robin games followed by a third place game and the championship game for the Xmas Cup. Entrance is by donation and there will also be a silent auction. All proceeds will be donated to Victoria Hospice for their ongoing programs and services to provide quality end-of-life care=0D=0A=
