FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Hip Hop Upping-the-Anti with Lyrical Force=0D=0A=
 =0D=0A=
March 16th, 2011 – Victoria, Coast Salish Territories=0D=0A=
 =0D=0A=
Conspire to liberate? Crash the meeting? This April 3rd Solstice Café=0D=0A=
will host one of the most dynamic hip-hop/spoken word shows this year,=0D=0A=
featuring Toronto’s most notorious revolutionary hip-hop artists,=0D=0A=
Testament and Illogik, currently on tour with their long awaited debut=0D=0A=
album. Together, they call themselves “Test Their Logik,” and they=0D=0A=
were reunited after 5 months of state-enforced conditions of=0D=0A=
non-association. The duo was charged with conspiracy and other=0D=0A=
indictable offences after their music video, “Crash The Meeting,”=0D=0A=
which encouraged resistance to Toronto’s G20 summit, went viral.=0D=0A=
 =0D=0A=
Joining “Test Their Logik” is Savage Fam, a hard-hitting Indigenous=0D=0A=
hip-hop artist from the occupied territories known as Washington=0D=0A=
State. Savage Fam embraces the art of lyricism and spoken word as a=0D=0A=
useful means to spread messages of hope, pride, and empowerment into=0D=0A=
Indigenous communities. Also on set is Mother Tareka, part of a=0D=0A=
FUNKtioning hip hop machine Unidentified Funky Objects from Hamilton.=0D=0A=
His new solo project, “He found brick inedible,” is an abstract=0D=0A=
musical look into his immigrant experience that confronts=0D=0A=
neo-colonialist misogyny, and capitalist dogma. Joining the show is=0D=0A=
Cleo Madelaine, whose hard beatboxing is matched by her smooth=0D=0A=
harmonies and soulful, revolutionary lyrics to “change your mind,” and=0D=0A=
Comrade Black, green-anarcho-feminist spoken-word poet. Special guest=0D=0A=
host MC Andrea Coates –poet, performer and writer – will be presiding=0D=0A=
throughout the evening.=0D=0A=
 =0D=0A=
Come out to experience the power of words and rhythms to inspire=0D=0A=
radical transformation and freedom.=0D=0A=
