DESCRIPTION;ENCODING=QUOTED-PRINTABLE:<p>Canadian chanteuse, Cari Burdett brings a timeless blend of dramatic gypsy cabaret to the stage, taking audiences on a trip around the world through song. Her first studio album, &lsquo;Magnolia&rsquo;, was nominated as Best World Music Album in the 2015 West Canadian Music Awards.</p>=0D=0A=
<p>Burdett&rsquo;s background includes degrees from McGill University and a Master&rsquo;s of vocal performance from the prestigious Royal Academy of Music, in London UK. Burdett presents three, newly arranged songs from &lsquo;Magnolia&rsquo;, including: Caruso, Lucio Dallo&rsquo;s Italian masterpiece, made famous by Domingo and Pavoroti; as well as, Loveliness by Victoria&rsquo;s own singer-songwriter, Anne Schaeffer.</p>=0D=0A=
<p>Canadian master-musician, Adrian Dolan (Ruth Moody Band, The Bills) arranged these two songs to suit Cari&rsquo;s unique voice. Piaf Medley, presents a swinging, new take on two of Piaf&rsquo;s most well known songs; arranged by Richard Moody, Burdett&rsquo;s long-time collaborator. Also on the program: the dramatic Habanera from Carmen, the renowned Gershwin Ballad, The Man I Love also performed with full orchestra along with a Robbie Burns dedication of The Lea, in an intimate setting for guitar and flute.</p>=0D=0A=
<p>&ldquo;This is where I feel at home&rsquo; says Burdett, &ldquo;Singing while surrounded by the grandiose expanse of a full orchestra.&rdquo; Sooke Philharmonic&rsquo;s internationally acclaimed violist and maestro, Norman Nelson and his wife Jenny attended Cari&rsquo;s CD Release concert last year, and invited her, on the spot, to perform for this Valentine&rsquo;s concert. &ldquo;I&rsquo;m thrilled to work with Norman Nelson and the Sooke Philharmonic,&rsquo; says Burdett, &ldquo;the opportunity to create new arrangements for orchestra, is a vocalist&rsquo;s dream.&rdquo;</p>=0D=0A=
