One of the most revered of the New Orleans “piano professors,” JON CLEARY was actually born in England. He was, however, lucky enough to grow up in New Orleans, and for over three decades has been one of the Crescent City’s most charismatic musical artists. A piano master with a soulful voice, Cleary has a knack for composing infectious grooves with melodic hooks. Oh, and he’s a pretty sharp lyricist too. His most recent release GoGo Juice won the 2016 Grammy for “Best Regional Roots Music Album.” Cleary has appeared solo at previous JazzFests, but this time around he’s playing with his long time band, The Absolute Monster Gentlemen, a larger-than-life trio of very funky New Orleans natives who expand Cleary’s rich and rollicking sound into the realm of urban blues, R&B, and soul. These riotously musical Gentlemen include Derwin “Big D” Perkins guitar, Cornell Williams bass, and A.J. Hall drums.
=0D=0A=

Opening Act: Inviting audiences to catch a glimpse of musical madness in the form of bluesy rock ‘n’ roll, one-man band extraordinaire STEVE HILL is one of Canada’s premier blues artists. Hill just released his new album Solo Recordings Volume 3 and his Solo Recordings Volume 2 won a Juno in 2015 for “Blues Album of the Year.” He’s also won three Maple Blues Awards two years in a row! Impressively, Steve Hill performs standing up while singing and playing guitar, with his feet playing bass drum, snare drum, and hi-hats; even hitting any other percussion within reach with a drum stick fused to the head of his trusty guitar.
=0D=0A=
