The exciting 12-piece group Pink Martini performs everything from swinging Afro-Cuban rhythms, Parisian café tunes, Caribbean calypso, and Hollywood golden-era string arrangements. Formed in 1994, this Portland-based “little orchestra” is led by pianist Thomas Lauderdale and fronted by vocalist China Forbes. Their sophisticated and multi-lingual performances have enthralled critics and audiences alike: The Times UK called them “one of the world’s most elegant live bands,” and JazzTimes wrote that “Pink Martini’s live show conjures a fantasy of ageless glamour.” They have performed in numerous sold-out concerts around the world, including four at Carnegie Hall, four at the Los Angeles Philharmonic’s Walt Disney Concert Hall, and two at Paris’ legendary L’Olympia Theatre. The group’s eighth studio album, Dream a Little Dream, follows up a series of critically acclaimed releases that started with their 1997 album Sympathique, which earned them “Song of the Year” and “Best New Artist” nominations in France’s Victoires de la Musique Awards.
