DESCRIPTION;ENCODING=QUOTED-PRINTABLE:<p>Laci Green will be at University Centre Farquhar Auditorium Sept 30th for an in depth look at our culture&rsquo;s attitudes and responses to sexual violence. <br /><br />Laci Green is a 25-year-old web personality, public speaker, and activist from San Francisco. She is best known as the host and creator of the internet&rsquo;s most popular sex education show, called &ldquo;Sex Plus&rdquo;. Sex+ seeks to start a fresh conversation about sexuality that is fun and educational. The show currently reaches 5 million young adults every month in over 125 countries.<br /><br />Green&rsquo;s talk, &ldquo;Taking down Rape Culture&rdquo;, covers sexual assault awareness, rape culture, victim blaming, consent and prevention. One in four female college/university students will be raped before receiving her diploma. For other marginalized groups, the number is even higher. In this program, Green takes an urgent and in-depth look at our culture&rsquo;s attitudes about sexual violence. Using recognizable examples, pictures, videos and discussion questions, this program seeks to illuminate some shocking overarching patterns &ndash;and offers solutions to bring it to a screeching halt. Green&rsquo;s programs are all LGBT inclusive.<br /><br />In 2011, Green graduated with highest honors from UC Berkeley and she currently holds a certificate in rape and dating violence crisis counseling. Throughout college, she taught for-credit sex education classes to at-risk high school students and students at UC Berkeley. In addition to her work on Sex+, she is an educator and consultant for Planned Parenthood, Discovery, and MTV Act.
