LOCAL CHOIR CONCERT A GO, WITH A PANDEMIC TWIST
=0D=0A=

The Village Voices of Qualicum Beach has been bringing choral music to Oceanside audiences for 30 years. When the Global pandemic was declared, the organization faced one of the biggest challenges in its history. Rehearsals went to Zoom and performances were virtual. It’s been a totally different experience for singers and supporters alike.
=0D=0A=

“We pivoted as quickly as we could to virtual rehearsals." says Artistic Director, Patricia Plumley,
=0D=0A=

“This gave singers the chance to work on their own vocal, musical and technical skills but that joy of creating music together is something we’ve only been able to return to this fall in a safe and organized way. We’re so excited to be singing in person again.”
=0D=0A=

Now, as vaccination rates continue to climb, The Village Voices is once again welcoming audience members for a scaled-back version of its fall concert, Songs for a Winter’s Night. The afternoon is a seasonal offering of choral favorites with a tiny bit of Christmas thrown in. Selections include John Rutter (For the Beauty of the Earth and Christmas Lullaby), a little bit of musical theatre (Carousel, Finian’s Rainbow, The Greatest Showman) plus classical, gospel and Gordon Lightfoot. So there’s something for everyone!
=0D=0A=

The concert will be one set, with no intermission, door prizes or paper tickets and programs.
=0D=0A=

“The repertoire is a mix of styles that really showcases the talent of our singers.” Plumley says. Admission is by donation with a suggested amount of $15. Covid protocols will be in place. All attendees will be screened for vaccination status and required to remain masked and physically distanced.
=0D=0A=

Songs for a Winter’s Night will be at 2:30PM on Saturday November 20th 2021, at the CFC, 825 Village Way in Qualicum Beach. www.thevillagevoices.ca
=0D=0A=
