A musical reading celebrating the launch of SNAPSHOT OF A SOUL PLACE in the land of special needs, with editor/curator Valley Hennell, designer Ronan Lannuzel and musician Rick Scott, who is Goodwill Ambassador for the Down Syndrome Research Foundation. Rick and Valley are grandparents of Mielle Metz, on whose life the story is based.
=0D=0A=Written and illustrated by her mother, Kari Burk, this vibrant 96 -page memoir unfolds a mother and daughter’s 25-year journey with Down syndrome in paintings, drawings, photos, poetry and prose. Books will be available for $30 and refreshments will be served.
=0D=0A=With 40 original artworks and 60 photos, Snapshot of a Soul Place offers a colourful window into the triumphs, challenges, hopes and fears of private and community life. We hear from family, care workers, teachers and friends. We visit hospitals, breastfeeding clinic, child development centre, sign language class, home, school and sacred places.
