Once Mary Poppins slides happily up the banister of the Banks’ household.... ....things are never the same again. The Altrusa Club of Campbell River is once again presenting its annual sing along movie event. Get ready for an enchanting outing with the magical, high-flying story of Mary Poppins (starring the incomparable Julie Andrews). An evening of sing along fun featuring tunes such as Chim Chiminey, A Spoonful of Sugar, Let’s Go Fly A Kite, and Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious. Singing is optional (if you are shy), but remember you will be joining in with over 300 others! Mary Poppins is the practically perfect nanny who helps the Banks family learn to take their medicine with a spoonful of sugar, find the silver lining in every situation, and realize that sometimes we should use the winds of change to just go fly a kite. Mary makes ordinary events extraordinary. As she states, “Anything can happen if you let it!” Costumes are encouraged (but not mandatory!) and there will be prizes for all ages. There will be an enthusiastic MC, who will get the crowd ready to sing and delight in this great Disney classic known for its ground-breaking mix of live action and animation. Who knows, there may even be a little dancing in the aisles at the end! So find your favourite umbrella and come join in this whimsical event.
