Frank Sinatra is undoubtedly one of the most important figures in music history. To honour the man and the music, Calgary vocalist Robert Young will celebrate Sinatra's 100th birthday with a performance of his classic recordings, many of which have the feel of the original Nelson Riddle arrangements and Count Basie sound.
ROBERT YOUNG
Robert's musical tastes are vast, but the era of the Big Band and the crooners of that age has taken hold. He concentrats on the works of the great American writers such as Cole Porter and Duke Ellington, along with the brilliant arrangements of Nelson Riddle. His show celebrates the good stuff in life; romance, flirtation and the genuine fun that comes from experiences among friends. There is no other experience greater for Robert than to perform in front of and to appease audiences. He hopes to share his passion of song and share these rewards with you.
ARROWSMITH BIG BAND
Formed in 1975, and based in Qualicum Beach, the Arrowsmith Big Band is comprised of some of the best available players in Central Vancouver Island. Band members are a mix of full time and retired professional musicians, and music teachers
Past performances have included Herman’s Jazz Club in Victoria, the Georgia Straight Jazz Club in Courtenay, the South Island Jazz Festival in Duncan, the West Coast Jazz Festival in Qualicum Beach, the Village Theater in Qualicum Beach, the Capital Theater in Port Alberni, the Royal Canadian Legion in Parksville, and appearances at the Port Theater, Nanaimo.
Music Director Greg Bush and the band are thrilled to present "Forever Young" to a new audience in Sidney.
