Spring Square Dance Jubilation!
=0D=0A=There’s a fortune to celebrate this coming March 20th as both the spring equinox and Master caller Paul Silveria arrive to Salt Spring Island, bringing with them intoxicating dance and song. This unique community dance and social will feature live music performed by Salt Spring’s own Buck Dodgers Stringband in concert with seasoned caller Paul Silveria. Paul calls high-energy live music square dances that are always fun, welcoming, and beginner friendly! Back in 2002, in his hometown of Portland Oregon, Paul began studying with legendary dance caller Bill Martin and since then he’s brought his engaging calling to events up and down the West Coast, including the Vancouver Folk Festival, Mission Folk Festival, and Cowichan Valley Bluegrass Festival. The Buck Dodgers Stringband is an old time Stringband featuring Greg Duckett on fiddle, Catherine Black on banjo, Matt Lacarte on guitar and Alan Kerr on Bass. Together, for the last 3 years the Buck Dodgers have delivered that great old time music at several wonderful dances with many talented callers and finally Salt Spring can add Paul Silveria to that list. For the first time, they’re hosting the square dance in town at historic Mahon Hall to make it easier for all to come! So call your friends, pick up grandma and grandpa and most importantly make sure you go. It’s sure to be an unforgettable night!
