DESCRIPTION;ENCODING=QUOTED-PRINTABLE:<p>Raine Hamilton and Shauna Janz, both Canadian singers-songwriters, perform at the Duncan Showroom on February 27. <br /><br />Tickets are $12 in advance at http://www.showroomproductions.ca/buy-tickets and $15 at the door.<br /><br /><strong>Raine Hamilton</strong><br />Winnipeg-based prairie songstress Raine Hamilton takes the stage with humour and strength. Imagine a cross between a shorter, more musical Tina Fey, and a shorter, funnier Joni Mitchell. Raine melds her love of the violin into the singer-songwriter genre, writing for violin and voice, as well as for guitar and voice. &nbsp;<br /><br />Raine has an established history of live shows, including performances for the Governor General of Canada, West End Cultural Centre, Edge of the World Festival (Haida Gwaii BC), Home County Festival (ON), Festival du voyageur, Rainbow Trout, Fire and Water, Harvest Sun, Matlock, Anola Little Music Festival, and the Shine on Festival of Music and Arts. <br /><br />Raine's first full-length album, Past Your Past, was released in May of 2015.<br /><a href="http://www.rainehamilton.com/bio/">http://www.rainehamilton.com/bio/</a><br /><br /><strong>Shauna Janz</strong><br />Vancouver Island singer-songwriter Shauna Janz's unique lyrical landscapes, unconventional approach, and her folk-soprano voice, has awarded her quick recognition. Releasing a self-produced 5 song album in November 2014, her song Redwood was nominated "Song of the Year" at the 2015 Vancouver Island Music Awards, and garnered attention from local media. Shauna's indie-folk sounds have been described as "lyrical, soulful, warm - Joni Mitchell-meets-Sarah McLaughlin" and her performances "stunning and memorable; a unique voice that combines folk with soul, and dances between notes and cadences with ease and unpredictability."
