LOCATION:Mary Winspear Centre :: 2243 Beacon Ave. Sidney, V8L 1W9
DESCRIPTION;ENCODING=QUOTED-PRINTABLE:
Las Vegas may be primarily considered a place where you throw the dice or pull the lever on that “one-armed bandit.” But over the years, the city has also become a choice venue for great singers, a place to soothe your soul, in between chasing Lady Luck. Frank Sinatra and Elvis Presley were two of the early headliners in the 50s and 60s. Now, they’ve been succeeded by a wide range of singers like Celine Dion, Josh Groban, Stevie Wonder and Neil Diamond. Musicals have also become a standard feature vying for your entertainment dollar in Sin City. “Jersey Boys”, honouring the Four Seasons and “Good Vibrations”, saluting the Beach Boys are but two. Even Leonard Cohen has shown up on a Vegas stage. With this rich mother lode from which to choose, Artistic Director Glenda Korella and the the Peninsula Singers will offer you their snappy, upbeat and sensational “Centre Stage in Vegas.” They’ll serenade you with some of the best songs by Sinatra, Elvis, Celine Dion and yes, Canada’s Leonard Cohen. Plus medleys from “Jersey Boys” and the still popular Beach Boys. Along with choreography, costumes and surprises. Our motto: we don’t just stand there and sing!

In our traditional “Spotlight on a Young Artist,” you’ll hear up-and-coming star Gabriel Macdonald, who will graduate from the Canadian College of Performing Arts this spring. A baritone who’s played the lead in over 15 musicals, Gabriel’s repertoire will include a little Sinatra and “Before the Summer Ends” from the musical “Dracula.”

We expect to beat our current record of sold out shows at the Mary Winspear Centre from the current twenty-two to twenty-five.

Proceeds go to the Saanich Peninsula Hospital Foundation's Music Therapy Program
