Naturally, the paintings should be beyond redemption in your opinion - either you're stuck, or you have given up on these would-be treasures. It also goes without saying that you allow Ron to re-work them in front of you at the Morris Gallery - it's called a Paint-On Critique, an idea by Ted Goerschner.
