<p>De Leeuw writes muscled prose and embodied poetry that opens up the connections between land and bodies. Her first book of poetry, Geographies of a Lover, won the 2013 Dorothy Livesay Poetry Prize for the best book of poetry in British Columbia that year. Her second book of poetry, Skeena, follows the river of that name as it flows through a multiplicity of voices, texts, and histories.</p>=0D=0A=
<p>As part of Open Word, de Leeuw will read from her latest book of essays, Where It Hurts, and join in conversation with local writer and geographer Maleea Acker.</p>=0D=0A=
<p>This event is co-presented with the University of Victoria&rsquo;s Departments of Writing and Geography and made possible through The Orion Series in Fine Arts.</p>
