=0D=0A=The exhibit "One-Way Passage" by renowed artist Bev Tosh is definitely a MUST SEE! It includes 30 full-length individual painted portraits based on original photographs of each young woman on her wedding day and their stoires.
=0D=0A=Sensitively rendered in oil on planks of wood, the paintings convey a nostalgic sense of time’s passage. Each are hand painted on a 4 foot by 1 foot plank of wood. The natural occurring knots and grains of the wooden boards emphasize each subject’s character and dress.
=0D=0A=Positioned shoulder to shoulder, they lean together to suggest the war bride’s mutual support. Collectively they pay tribute to the tens of thousands of war brides for whom a leap of faith meant not just a new husband, but a new country. Memorabilia from regional war brides lends a West Coast focus to a wide cross-section of Canadian portraits and stories.

=0D=0A=About the Artist: Bev Tosh is a contemporary artist and a member of the Royal Canadian Academy of Arts. One-Way Passage, her War Bride Series has been exhibited nationally and internationally.
=0D=0A=Her numerous grants and awards include: Woman of Vision Award from Global TV and the YWCA; the Alberta Centennial Medal for her contributions to the arts; and Distinguished Alumni Award of Excellence in recognition of exceptional achievement in art by the Board of Governors of the Alberta College of Art & Design.
