For thousands of years, wine had been the creative nectar of humanity. Countless references to wine appear in paintings and literature. Enhance your experience of enjoying fine wine by viewing a selection of paintings, sampling wines and listening to a solo violin performance by Jack Glatzer and a poetry reading.
=0D=0A=

Jack Glatzer was born in Dallas, Texas and began studying the violin at the age of five. Quickly to follow were solo appearances with the Dallas Symphony, a performance with the National Symphony and winning a national competition. He studied with several of the greatest teachers of the post-war period. Glatzer attended the Yale School of Music, graduated with degrees in history, summa cum laude and with honour at Oxford. Glatzer’s particular interest is in the unaccompanied repertoire for the violin; he is celebrated not only for his interpretations of Bach, Paganini and Bartok, but also for his performances of Locatelli, Roman, Ysaye, Block, Stravinsky, Elgar, Rochberg and Sculthorpe. He is one of the few violinists to perform all 24 Caprices of Paganini in one concert as well as the complete solo works of Bach in a series of two concerts.
=0D=0A=

The evening promises to be rich in more than one sense. Tickets are $25 in advance at Village Liquor Store and $30 at the door. Make a pre-show dinner reservation today by calling the Surf Lodge at 250-247-9231
