Missing for 71 years, the remains of four missing airmen and the wreckage of their wreckage of Avro Anson L7056, were finally discovered in the woods near Port Renfrew, BC.
=0D=0A=The research of well-known local historian, T. W. (Tom) Paterson, shows that at least 125 young airmen were killed, or missing, on Vancouver Island during the Second World War. They were the pilots and crew of the Western Air Command on coastal defence patrol and trainee aircrews assigned to the Patricia Bay Operational Training Unit, RAF as part of the British Commonwealth Air Training Plan.
