DESCRIPTION;ENCODING=QUOTED-PRINTABLE:<p>Missing for 71&nbsp; years, the remains of four missing&nbsp;airmen and&nbsp;the wreckage of their wreckage of Avro Anson L7056, were finally discovered in the woods near Port Renfrew, BC.</p>=0D=0A=
<p>The research of well-known local historian, T. W. (Tom) Paterson,&nbsp;shows that at least 125 young airmen were killed, or missing,&nbsp;on Vancouver Island during the Second World War.&nbsp; They were the pilots and crew of the Western Air Command on coastal defence patrol and trainee aircrews assigned to the Patricia Bay Operational Training Unit, RAF&nbsp;as part of the British Commonwealth Air Training Plan.</p>=0D=0A=

<p>For more than 50 years T. W. Paterson has been writing about British Columbia history, comprising 27 books and thousands of magazine and newspaper articles.&nbsp; He is perhaps best known for his books on B.C. ghost towns.</p>=0D=0A=
<p>Paterson currently writes a twice-weekly historical column for the Cowichan Valley Citizen, and he&nbsp;has several new&nbsp;books underway.</p>=0D=0A=
<p>The Nanaimo Historical Society is a non-profit organization.&nbsp; Founded in 1953, the Society's mission is to preserve, promote, and celebrate the history of Nanaimo and Central Vancouver Island.&nbsp; Annual membership is $24 for an individual, $30 for a family, and $34 for an organization.</p>=0D=0A=
<p>Membership includes a subscription to British Columbia History, the quarterly journal of the the British Columbia Historical Federation.</p>=0D=0A=
