DESCRIPTION;ENCODING=QUOTED-PRINTABLE:<p>- Monday, March 20, 2023 - Claire Smith-Burns of Kelowna, BC - by Zoom only - presents &ldquo;Finding Canadian Wills and Probate Records&rdquo;. Wills and the paperwork created in probating an estate often give details on family members (including married surnames of daughters), provide insight on family dynamics and paint a picture of the socio-economic status of the family. Claire will start by reviewing the various documents and terminology found in a probate packet. She then goes on a cross-Canada survey of Wills and Probate records, by province, including ideas on how best to access these records.</p>=0D=0A=
<p>- Monday, April 17, 2023 - Genevieve Weber, Archivist, Royal BC Museum, Victoria BC appears by Zoom. (This meeting is Hybrid - see below for details.) Genevieve will speak about &ldquo;Going Beyond Vital Events Records: Finding Family at the BC Archives&rdquo;. Vital records (birth, marriage and death) registrations are often the starting point for building a family tree. Genevieve will discuss navigating the BC Archives processes and the top 10 record types in their holdings to aid in genealogy research.</p>=0D=0A=
<p>- Monday, May 15, 2023 - Lianne Kruger of Red Deer, Alberta appears by Zoom (This meeting is Hybrid - see below) Lianne&rsquo;s presentation, &ldquo;Home, Home on the Range&rdquo; looks at Homestead Records in Western Canada.</p>=0D=0A=
<p>- Monday, June 19, 2023 - Mali Bain of Nanaimo, BC appears in person and will have books available for purchase. (This meeting is Hybrid - see below for details) Mali shares insights from publishing her own book and helping others do the same with their life stories and family histories.</p>=0D=0A=
<p>All meetings are available via Zoom. Our April, May and June meetings are also Hybrid meaning we can gather in person at Beban Park Social Centre, 2300 Bowen Road, Nanaimo or view the speaker remotely via Zoom.</p>=0D=0A=
<p>The presentations are free to members. Memberships are just $30 per year ($25 for seniors 65 and older). Additional family memberships are just $10.00 each.</p>=0D=0A=
