With this year’s wonderful weather, it’s easy to understand why gardeners are itching to get out into the garden. When that starts happening it’s once again time for the Nanaimo Community Gardens Society (NCGS) to hold its Annual General Meeting to get ready for the growing season ahead.
This year, the NCGS is continuing to make changes in its Greenhouse operations and hopes to begin setting up a new greenhouse. In past years, the NCGS has sold locally produced vegetable, herb and flower seedlings grown without chemicals. The society is working to actively establish a new place to operate for the 2016 growing season. More information on this will be presented at the Annual General Meeting.
All interested community members are invited to attend the Society’s AGM on Wednesday March 11th from 7-8 pm to learn more about how to participate in programs and activities such as gleaning, greenhouse growing and hands-on gardening. The event will include a presentation and report on society programs and activities from 2014 and the presentation of the 2015 budget.
The society wants to thank all volunteers for their hard work in 2014 and provide an opportunity for the public and NCGS members to meet with directors and volunteers. There will be opportunity to ask questions and provide feedback.
This year there will be 3 vacancies on the board of directors. This is a great opportunity for someone to become involved with the society at the decision making level. This is also an ideal way for current members and volunteers to learn more about how their society operates. Those considering this prospect should contact info@nanaimocommunitygardens.ca.
