Hey, all you classical music lovers, the Nanaimo Chamber Orchestra is excited to begin our 20th season! We will be in concert in Nanaimo and Ladysmith this November: Saturday, Nov. 2nd 2:30 pm at St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church, Nanaimo and Sunday, Nov. 3rd 2:30 pm at St. Mary’s Parish, Ladysmith. This program will feature violist, Barry Leung, a member of the Vancouver Island Symphony and a recent resident of Nanaimo. Barry graduated from the University of Victoria with a Master’s degree in music and regularly performs with chamber ensembles and orchestras across Vancouver Island, including the award-winning Cascadia Strings, the Gilbert & Sullivan Society, Sidney Classical Orchestra, and Victoria Operatic Society. He will be performing Georg Philipp Telemann's “Viola Concerto in G Major”. The NCO will also perform Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart’s well known “Eine Kleine Nacht Musik” (a little night music), Arcangelo Corelli’s “Concerto Grosso in F Major Opus 6 No. 2”, and George Fredric Händel’s “Concerto Grosso Op 6 No. 11”. Imagine the aristocracy of the 18th Century and the buzz that would be in the air for all those concert-goers – to take in this All-Star performance! This mainly-Baroque program will entertain you with the vitality and captivating spirit of that period of music. Hope to see you at our concerts.
