<p>Bookfest is a wonderful, fun-filled day for children and adults alike that will be held downtown Nanaimo Saturday, May 2nd. Renowned authors and illustrators from across Canada are invited to present their work, tell stories about their creations and lives, and inspire youth through literature and art.</p>=0D=0A=

<p>Saturday, May 9 Matisse M&acirc;ch&eacute; At this week&rsquo;s Saturday Studio we will be taking inspiration from the whimsical and colourful cut-out forms of artist, Henri Matisse. By taking cut-outs from 2D to 3D, we will play with shape and structure in order to build a Matisse-inspired abstract, sculptural vase from papier-m&acirc;ch&eacute;.</p>=0D=0A=
<p>Saturday, May 16 Heritage Day Let&rsquo;s celebrate Heritage Days with a glance back into our local history. Stories from our past inspire today&rsquo;s mixed media project.</p>=0D=0A=
<p>Saturday, May 23/30 Blue Water Project This year, for our 4th annual collaboration with the RBC's Blue Water Project, we will collaborate to create large scale painted works and illuminate our local waters and the life within. Taking inspiration from the Giant Pacific Octopus, jelly fish, dragon seahorses and more we will create fantastical painted sea life from our blue waters to be displayed at the downtown branch of the Royal Bank in June. So dive on in and come be a part of Saturday Studio's annual group show at RBC!</p>=0D=0A=
<p>Saturday Studio is sponsored by: RBC If you have a LEAP card your child may be eligible for a bursary! Two LEAP spots are available each week; one per family. Each family is welcome to use up to 2 LEAP spots per month.</p>=0D=0A=
<p>Maximum program enrolment is 16 students. All phone reservations must be paid prior to 5 pm the Friday before Saturday Studio. Walk-in payments are accepted until 10:15am Saturday if there is still space.</p>
