Join us at the Bethlehem Centre as we gather in community for music, meditation, and readings of mystic poets.
=0D=0A=Featuring the relaxing and meditative vocal melodies of cellist Alannah Dow and pianist Leah Hokanson, these gatherings will celebrate music with readings from the work of beloved Persian Sufi mystic poets Hafiz and Rumi, who are treasured for their devotional writing.
=0D=0A=The ecstatic and inspirational poems of Jalal ad-Din Muhammad Rumi, a Persian poet and Sufi master born in 1207, have sold millions of copies crowning him as the most popular poet in America. Rumi wrote 3,000 love songs to Shams of Tabri, the prophet Muhammad and God. Dow and Hokanson will also present the readings of Khwāja Shams-ud-Dīn Muḥammad Ḥāfeẓ-e Shīrāzī, known more commonly as Hafiz. Hafiz, also a Sufi poet, explored a love for the divine and beautifully expressed the euphoric oneness of connectedness of union with divinity.
=0D=0A=Join Dow and Hokanson every last Sunday of the month until June at Bethlehem Centre. Pairings of two poets whose works complement the other will be featured that touch deep into the heart of what it means to be a spiritual being on a human journey. Admission is by donation at the door.
