DESCRIPTION;ENCODING=QUOTED-PRINTABLE:<p>Crimson Coast Dance Society (CCD) is thrilled to host 2019&rsquo;s Multiculturalism Day celebration in the heart of Downtown Nanaimo from Noon-9pm on Thursday, June 27th. Join us for FREE and interactive cultural displays from Snuneymuxw, China, South Asia, Europe, the Middle East and beyond!</p>=0D=0A=
<p>Audiences are invited to participate in fun workshops and witness outstanding performances by experienced artists, while taking in the vibrant offerings of Nanaimo&rsquo;s Commercial Street throughout the day. Later, amidst the bustling of the Downtown Night Market, our outdoor stage on Museum Way offers a complementary cultural splash &mdash; with music and dance reflecting the ancestral traditions of our friends and neighbours.</p>=0D=0A=
<p>Performances include: a Snuneymuxw welcome, Coast Salish drumming and song; high-energy dabkes from Syria and Lebanon, graceful home-style Khaleegy, dramatic Turkish Horon line dancing and other expressive European, Egyptian, and South Asian styles; a community drumming circle with Voodoo Dave &amp; Friends; PLUS a teaser performance from the creators of &lsquo;Crossing Mountains and Seas&rsquo; &mdash; a headliner show premiering at The Port Theatre on July 11, inspired by the ancient book Shan Hai Jing &mdash; fusing Chinese dance/music, avant-garde jazz, aerial performance, and martial arts.</p>=0D=0A=
<p>Also coinciding with Central Vancouver Island Multicultural Society&rsquo;s 40th anniversary year, Multiculturalism Day 2019 will feature information booths, themed pop-up activities in the Harbourfront Library, and exclusive ticket giveaways for CCD&rsquo;s 21st InFrinGinG Dance Festival shows in July!</p>=0D=0A=
