The Salt Spring Island Ceramic Awards (SSICA) and The Salt Spring Arts Council is pleased to announce this event in association with the SSICA Exhibition and Awards show. We encourage those interested in pottery to take advantage of this unique opportunity to observe a master potter at work.
=0D=0A=This two-day demonstration workshop is an intensive session whereby Bruce will demonstrate throwing/trimming, throwing and altering, handles, lids, surface techniques and press molding with thrown elements. Dialogue is encouraged throughout the process. A visual history of Bruce’s work will be presented to support and contextualize the objects that are made in the workshop.
=0D=0A=Experience with ceramics arts helpful, although not necessary. Thank you to The Canada Council for the Arts who has provided The Salt Spring Arts Council with a grant to bring master potter Bruce Cochrane, whose works are exhibited globally, to Salt Spring Island for this workshop.
