On Macaron Day, downtown Victoria’s macaron patisserie, Bon Macaron, will join bakeries, cafés, and bistros around the world to support local causes, one dainty delicacy at a time.
=0D=0A=Bon Macaron will sell for $2 a specially-designed, tutti frutti macaron, bearing the logo of Children’s Health Foundation of Vancouver Island and our signature pink heart. One hundred per cent of the proceeds from the sale of these macarons will be donated to the Foundation, in support of children with disabilities and health challenges on the Island. Macarons (not to be confused with macaroons) are small, round, chewy confections, boasting an assortment of flavours and colours—many, which beautifully complement those in the Children's Health Foundation logo.
=0D=0A=The gluten-free, almond meringue-based treats are filled with flavoured ganache or buttercream—salted caramel, nutella, raspberry coconut, lavender, and strawberry mango, amongst many, many more tantalizing tastes. Macaron Day was founded in France in 2006; it was established to celebrate the dainty dessert and support local charities.
