Join Nanaimo’s Malaspina Choir and friends at its final season concert for an afternoon of dazzling and lustrous choral works at the Port Theatre. Gabriel Fauré’s Requiem is our featured piece, undoubtedly his most famous and iconic work, loved by singers and audiences alike. Other luminous works include the Adam and Eve duet and chorus from Joseph Haydn’s Creation, John Rutter’s ‘Arise, Shine’ for choir and organ; and ‘O Nata Lux’ (O Light of Light) by Morten Lauridsen.
=0D=0A=Fiona Blackburn leads Malaspina Choir with guests: Jennifer Turner, soprano and Nathan McDonald, baritone; organist Jenny Vincent; pianist Stefanie Unger; the Nanaimo Chamber Orchestra; and Island Bel Canto Singers. The concert will conclude with almost 100 voices singing ‘Lux Aeterna’ – a glorious choral version of Edward Elgar’s most famous ‘Nimrod’ melody from his Enigma Variations.
