Nada will discuss how socio-political changes have influenced this embodied art, and offer an overview of changing musical landscapes, influential dancers, and the role of Egyptian dances on global stages. Her talk will be followed by a Q&A.

=0D=0A=The Awalim & Ghawazee Dance Workshop 2:00 PM - 3:30 PM Placing the characteristic subtlety and gracefulness of the Awalim and the vibrant and energetic movements of the Ghawazee within their historical contexts, Nada El Masriya will lead students through dances that demonstrate the distinct influence of these two traditions on Egyptian dance forms today.
