Feel the Excitement Share the Joy Two Days of Spectacular Dancing
Experience the transformation of Beban Park Social Center into an exciting Ballroom Dance Competition. Top BC, Canadian and International couples will compete at The Island Fantasy Ball - right here in Nanaimo!
For over two decades the Nanaimo Ballroom Dance Society has been hosting this gala event where the audience can enjoy both competition and performance in one elegant weekend. We invite you to join us this year as we celebrate our 28th year of exciting competition.
Couples of all ages and all levels of ability will compete in all ten International Style Dances including the Waltz, Quickstep, Slow Fox, Tango, Viennese Waltz, Cha Cha, Rumba, Jive, Samba and Paso Doble. Whether these athletes are just beginning or are seasoned competitors, they bring everything to the dance floor to wow the audience and win the trophy.
Saturday's schedule of events includes both the exhilarating International Open Latin Championship, and the elegant and equally exciting International Open Standard Championship. The energy on the dance floor is felt throughout the audience, this is a dynamic thing that you can only experience at a live event! The Saturday evening session has the option of a sumptuous catered buffet.
Sunday is a perfect time to bring the family and enjoy the Juvenile and Junior couples looking adorable and unbelievably talented for ones so young. We are also pleased to once again host the BC Closed Championships which will be held on Sunday, in both the Latin and Ballroom dances.
During the competitions you will see couples competing at all of the levels of ballroom dance; these start at Newcomer, and advance through Bronze, Silver, Gold, Pre Champ and Championship. Both days culminate in an event we call the ‘Showcase of Champions’. This is pure entertainment. Our top dancers will perform solo dances which will highlight their skills, choreography, musicality and imagination.
It is a weekend sure to please the whole family as well as any dance enthusiasts! We are proud to host this cultural event for Nanaimo.
