DESCRIPTION;ENCODING=QUOTED-PRINTABLE:<p>May is the month of spring&rsquo;s vitality when the Island Consort Chamber Choir celebrates the season with a program titled, &ldquo;To Music: To Life!&rdquo; This choir of classical and contemporary repertoire opens with William Byrd&rsquo;s Late Renaissance celebratory &ldquo;Laudibus in Sanctis&rdquo; &ndash; moving in the 1st half through works by Monteverdi, Durufl&eacute;, Barber, Brahms, Beethoven and Bach. Pianist, Liam Pistor, will accompany the choir for Brahms&rsquo; &ldquo;Four Quartettes&rdquo;, Op 92 and a string quartet from the Nanaimo Chamber Orchestra will accompany the choir on Barber&rsquo;s &ldquo;Agnus Dei&rdquo; (Adagio), Beethoven&rsquo;s &ldquo;Elegischer Gesang&rdquo; and Bach&rsquo;s &ldquo;Jesus Bleibet Meine Freude&rdquo;.</p>=0D=0A=
<p>The 2nd half begins with the spiritual, &ldquo;My Lord, What A Morning&rdquo;, followed by Rachmaninoff&rsquo;s beautiful &ldquo;Bogoroditse Devo&rdquo;, two melodies from Sibelius and Dvorak symphonies, &ldquo;Somewhere&rdquo;, from Bernstein&rsquo;s West Side Story, ending with two folk songs; &ldquo;The Road Home&rdquo; and &ldquo;Proschai&rdquo;, a song by the former Limelighters (1960&rsquo;s) arranged for the Island Consort by Music Director, Bruce Farquharson. Liam Pistor, a former singer with the Island Consort &ndash; currently in Graduate Studies in Music at UBC, returns to accompany the choir on 3 songs.</p>=0D=0A=
<p>The choir performs Saturday, May 6th, 2:00 pm at Gabriola United Church and May 7th, 7:30 pm at St. Andrew&rsquo;s United Church in Nanaimo.</p>=0D=0A=
