The Grandfather of the BC Wine Industry, Harry McWatters is the Founder of ENCORE Vineyards. He is building a state of the art winery, custom production facility, and world class winery hospitality centre on his 60 acre award winning vineyard located on Black Sage Bench in Oliver, BC.
Harry McWatters is a BC wine legend. Not only had McWatters started Summerland's Sumac Ridge Estate Winery, he remained the company's CEO until retiring from his post in 2008 and forming Vintage Consulting Group. He was a driving force behind the creation of VQA (Vintner's Quality Alliance) certification, which helped the local industry build a reputation for playing in the big leagues.
McWatters a is the founding Chair of the province's biggest wine industry association, the BC Wine Institute as well as the Okanagan Wine Festival Society and the Canadian Vintner's Association. His bio lists is endless and if you aren't sure who it is, well worth googling him.
