LOCATION:Vancouver Island School of Art :: 302-733 Johnson St Victoria, V8W 3C7
DESCRIPTION;ENCODING=QUOTED-PRINTABLE:
Indigo is a status symbol of the Tuareg of the Sahara and considered a precious color by the Dobag weavers of Turkey. The dyers of Rajasthan use indigo as their final creative step in intricate tie and dye patterning and almost every blue jeans wearer should be familiar with indigo. It is the only dye in the world that starts blue, turns yellow, changes to green, and then finally transforms itself again to true blue. You will create both a natural and a synthetic dye vat, learn how to keep it going for future dyeing and dye your own choice of natural fibres and cloth.
=0D=0A=

You will also make a wide variety of patterns on cloth from pole wrapping, folded and pleated patterns, shape resists plus a multi-value gradation. The workshop is perfect for sewers, quilters, surface design artists, and anyone looking for to experience the “magic of blue”.
=0D=0A=

Tuition fee includes supply kit containing all dyes and chemicals, dye equipment and some specialty fabrics.
