Until her own heart attack in 2008 (and subsequent health advocacy training at the world-famous Mayo Clinic - the first Canadian ever invited to attend the WomenHeart Science & Leadership Symposium for Women With Heart Disease!), CAROLYN THOMAS had no clue that more women than men die of heart disease each year. Or that heart disease kills six times more women annually than breast cancer does. In fact, heart disease kills more women every year than all forms of cancer combined. Yet there's good news: we now know that up to 80% of all cardiovascular disease is preventable!
=0D=0A=

In this interactive and (surprisingly!) fun event, Carolyn will share the latest updates from Mayo Clinic and other respected world experts as you learn about:
=0D=0A=

- women's unique cardiac risk factors and how to address them starting now
=0D=0A=

- signs and symptoms that you might be having a heart attack (including a number of vague, atypical symptoms common in women that just migh shock you)
=0D=0A=

- lessons about heart attack survival to inspire you
=0D=0A=

Open to all, Carolyn's presentations have been described as "part cardiology bootcamp and part stand-up comedy!" Her award-winning blog HEART SISTERS has had over 2 million views in 190 countries worldwide, and her writing about women's heart health and the patient experience has been republished internationally, including in the British Medical Journal (BMJ). Last year, she was also invited by that journal to become a Patient Reviewer as part of their Peer Review system for cardiac papers submitted for publication in the BMJ.
=0D=0A=
