finish in front of the Frank Ney Statue in Maffeo-Sutton Park. Crews will race=0D=0A=
leaving from the Fishing and Walking Pier sprinting 500m to a buoy marker and=0D=0A=
turn around and sprint 500m back. Please see the Map on the following page for=0D=0A=
more information. The total course distance is approximately 1000m in length.=0D=0A=

Battle in the Bay will take place in front of Maffeo-Sutton Park in Nanaimo.=0D=0A=
Parking is available in the parking lot at Maffeo-Sutton Park. To reach the venue=0D=0A=
head along the Old Island Highway North and turn right at Comox Road and take=0D=0A=
your first left into the Park.=0D=0A=

Awards - will follow the races on site.=0D=0A=
=0D=0A=
Food and beverage – local paddlers provide warm food and drinks by donation.=0D=0A=
Bring cash.=0D=0A=

This thrilling and spectator friendly event will use “Dragon Boat Festival” format,=0D=0A=
with each team having two to three races (weather permitting). Performances in=0D=0A=
the first race will determine seeding in Division semi-finals. Placement in these=0D=0A=
Semis will decide which teams make the Grand Final and Consolation Finals.=0D=0A=
Race organizers reserve the right to alter the race format depending on=0D=0A=
registration numbers.=0D=0A=

ALL OC6’S ARE PROVIDED. Paddlers are encouraged to bring their own PFD’s=0D=0A=
and paddles.=0D=0A=

TEAM INFORMATION=0D=0A=

All steers people must attend a steersperson meeting prior to their race. Race=0D=0A=
specific safety concerns will be addressed as well as the flow of the racecourse.=0D=0A=
The meeting will be held 30 minutes prior to the start of the first race. If you are=0D=0A=
not present your team will not be permitted to race.=0D=0A=

The price is $90(including tax)/team/entry ($15.00/paddler/ per category). Late=0D=0A=
registration is $120/team/day ($20/paddler) and is only available if space permits.=0D=0A=
Traveling teams must e-mail team information by registration deadline, but are=0D=0A=
able to fill out waivers and additional team information on the morning of the=0D=0A=
event. Payment can be made by Visa/MC or Cheque. Please make all cheques=0D=0A=
payable to “GO Rowing and Paddling Association of Canada”=0D=0A=

All participants must be CORA members. CORA registration will be available on site=0D=0A=
on Saturday morning. Single day memberships are available for $10 per participant or=0D=0A=
$20 for a full season (expires end of December).=0D=0A=
