The Gabriola Lions Club presents its 20th Annual Concert on the Green featuring Elvis Elite. Yes, as they say, Elvis has left the building. . .but he's heading to Gabriola Island!
=0D=0A=This year the Concert will feature Steve Elliot as Elvis.
=0D=0A=Having won the Top Canadian Tribute Title at the Penticton Annual Elvis Festival and The Elvis Mania Festival and having performed a half-time show at a BC Lions football game, Steve is a seasoned professional. His show has a Las Vegas style theme and there is no question that you will get “‘All Shook Up” because there will be a “Whole Lot of Shaking Going On”. You can wear your “Blue Suede Shoes” and perhaps a “Hound Dog” will be there.
=0D=0A=Also attending might be Johnny B. Goode, Maybelline and Long Tall Sally. It’s “Now or Never” to see a great show and “Suspicious Minds” are most welcome, so please come and join us! The gates open at 3:00 PM and the afternoon kicks off with a great Car Show (including Elvis Elite's pink Cadillac!) and many activities. For younger kids there will be "Clevor Trevor" the clown, a Hay Ride, Face Painting and Li'l Gabe, the Power Squadron Boat. For slightly older kids there will be demonstrations and games with the Boy Scouts and for adults there will be a Silent Auction.
=0D=0A=A roving singer will entertain you in the afternoon. Our opening act will be The Time Machine, a Gabriola band that will provide a 50 minute musical journey starting with the '70's and moving back to the '60's before turning it over to Elvis. Bring your lawn chairs or blanket and enjoy the golf club's natural amphitheatre setting for this great show.
=0D=0A=There is ample free parking on site and hot dogs, hamburgers, snacks and a beer garden will be available. For those coming from off-island, public transportation will meet the 3:45 p.m. ferry from Nanaimo at the ferry terminal on Gabriola Island and return after the concert.
=0D=0A=There will be a silent auction and a raffle for two return Air Canada tickets to any destination in Canada that Air Canada serves. Come and join us for a great afternoon and evening of music, fun and laughter.
