The Royal Engineers, also known as the “Sappers”, provided many and varied forms of support in the early days of the two British colonies on the Pacific coast of North America. The speaker, an ex-sapper himself, will give an overview of their contributions.=0D=0A=

Michael was President of the Friends of the B.C. Archives from 2011- October 2013 and continues as a board member.  A former cartographer, he has for the past few years been researching the history of the exploration and mapping of Vancouver Island. His new book on that topic, “The Land of Heart’s Delight” is now available.
