We all want to be happy, and some of us struggle with it. According to scientists, the countries that have the most people who self identify as being happiest are often those countries such as Iceland and Norway that are associated with high levels of depression. Canada rates fairly far down the list as the 17th happiest country. So the question arises: What makes us happy, and what can we do about it?=0D=0A=

Jonathon van der Goes, who holds a Masters degree in Counselling will attempt to answer that question in a workshop entitled “ Happiness Management” to be held on Thursday the 24th, at 730 in the evening. Van der Goes, who also gives workshops on Anger Management, points out that: “if we can manage anger, or at least come to understand it, we can use the same tools to manage and understand happiness.” He draws upon sources as diverse as Marshall Rosenberg, creator of Non Violent Communication and the field of Positive Psychology to give a scientifically based presentation.=0D=0A=

Van der Goes, who has worked primarily with people going through separation and divorce, and who describes himself as a relationship coach, says: “I have worked with over a thousand clients in the last decade, some going through divorce, some living with various types of addictions, some struggling with depression. They had one thing in common, which is that the all wanted to be happy. Surprisingly, the strategies they had followed to become happy also led to some of the greatest misery in their lives.”=0D=0A=
