The Festival’s theme this year is CONNEXIONS, which reflects some of our shared values – how the built environment connects a community; how well-designed spaces shape our life experiences, and how architects working together can contribute to solving problems even on a global scale, such as climate change.

• The High School Parklet Design Competition has awarded three finalists the opportunity to build out their parklets before the Festival! • Wednesday, June 8, 1 - 4 pm: Sketch Nanaimo! Join us to make brief sketches of what you see and hear downtown Nanaimo. The sketches will be held by the Nanaimo Archives as a legacy piece. This will become annual event. MORE INFO: https://festival2016.raic.org/activities-exhibitions
• Friday, June 10, 9 am - 12 pm: Downtown Nanaimo 6-site Design Charrette - Canada's largest - come watch architects in action! https://festival2016.raic.org/design-charrette
