DESCRIPTION;ENCODING=QUOTED-PRINTABLE:<p>&ldquo;FEASTIVAL&rdquo; is Nanaimo&rsquo;s second annual festival celebrating the Island&rsquo;s culinary culture. This year, the mid-Island&rsquo;s food and beverage festival takes place over two days on June 17 &amp; 18 at the Vancouver Island Conference Centre.</p>=0D=0A=
<p>Friday evening introduces &ldquo;SIPS&rdquo; &ndash; sampling of &ldquo;local&rdquo; craft brews, ciders, wines, and spirits. And by local, we mean some of the finest Vancouver Island and lower mainland craft producers! A new addition to Friday's SIPS is the "Brewed Right Here" competition seeking the finest local home brew. A souvenir SIPS tasting glass and 5 complimentary tasting tickets are included in the $39 admission price. Additional tasting tickets are available on site.</p>=0D=0A=

<p>On Saturday, Feastival visitors will rediscover last year&rsquo;s favourite attractions like our Celebrity Chef Stage, this year headlined by Karen Barnaby, Vancouver Sun columnist and past Executive Chef of the Fish House in Stanley Park.</p>=0D=0A=
<p>She&rsquo;ll be followed by other noted chefs, well-known authors and food experts. Laura Gosnell of Coast Fresh will be preparing salmon, Angelo Prosperi-Porta will present recipes featuring honey, and Tammy Deline &amp; Caniel Caron from 2 Chef's Affair and The Modern Cafe will show you some of the tricks and tips that helped them win Downtown Restaurant of the Year.</p>=0D=0A=
<p>Family Food Prep&nbsp;Lessons are presented by FoodShare once again with three classes offered during the day&nbsp;making healthy smoothies and 'Paradise Island Salad'.</p>=0D=0A=
<p>The Seafood Chowder Cook-Off is a challenge undertaken by 2-time Chowder Competition "The Bold Knight" and Sea Salt Food Co. Admission to Feastival includes unlimited taste tests of the chowders so you and your family can help pick&nbsp;the People&rsquo;s Choice this year.</p>=0D=0A=
<p>Visit local restaurants&rsquo; and food purveyors booths for samples of their specialties &ndash; five&nbsp;tasting tickets are provided with admission. The Feastival trade show presents products and services to make your dining experience better &ndash; many exhibitors here will also be offering samples and tastes. The daytime &ldquo;Sips&rdquo; section features tastings of Island wines, craft brews and spirits with an on-site retail outlet.</p>=0D=0A=
<p>Come and discover some interesting local producers and see how their businesses impact the economy and will change the beverages on your &lsquo;favourites&rsquo; list. Out on Gordon Street, Feastival features the return of the Food Trucks with their diverse fare and selection of street eats.&nbsp;</p>=0D=0A=
