Two workshops are being offered: one for beginners and one for intermediate level writers. The beginner course, A Workshop for Aspiring Writers, will run on Sundays from October 18 to November 15 from 1:30pm to 4:00pm. Working your way to the Home Stretch, an intermediate writing course, runs for five bi-monthly Saturdays, from October 10 to December 5 from 1:30pm to 4:00pm. Both courses are being held at the Museum at Campbell River and cost $140. Advanced registration is required as space is limited.

Each session will have a specific theme. The instructors will guide participants through writing exercises and discussions about ways to engage readers, craft elegant sentences and create vibrant scenes with life-like characters. There will be plenty of writing time in class, with exercises that advance participants’ writing projects. They will also engage in facilitated peer reviews to gauge reader response and share their insights with classmates.

Instructor Jeanette Taylor has four books in print, including “River City, A History of Campbell River & the Discovery Islands” and the BC Bestseller “Tidal Passages.” Annette Yourk is an editor, writer and instructor with fiction, nonfiction essays and articles, and poetry in print. Together they teach writing classes and workshops in the north island and manage a writing service called The Scribes, Comprehensive Writing Services.

To register, call the Campbell River Museum at 250-287-3103.
