LOCATION:Comox Valley Art Gallery :: 580 Duncan Avenue Courtenay, V9N 2M7
DESCRIPTION;ENCODING=QUOTED-PRINTABLE:
“Dancing with the Messengers” is a one-day meditation workshop with storyteller and teacher Margo McLoughlin. Based on an evening course by the same title, which Margo has offered twice in Victoria, “Dancing with the Messengers” is an invitation to explore one’s attitudes to aging, illness, and death.

“The benefit of this kind of exploration,” says Margo, “is that we discover our capacity to get interested in these natural processes. Instead of nurturing habits of resistance, denial and fear, we find out that it’s possible to awaken compassionate interest in our own life journey, as well as the life journeys of those around us. Mindfulness and loving-kindness become our guides to living life well as an opportunity for discussion and a short talk.

Margo has been leading meditation retreats in the Comox Valley and the Victoria area for many years. She has been a student of the insight tradition of Theravada Buddhism since 1986 and has practiced in Asia, the U.S. and Canada. Her teachers include Joseph Goldstein, Jack Kornfield, Larry Rosenberg, and Thanissara.

Margo McLoughlin is a graduate of the Harvard Divinity School as well as Spirit Rock’s Meditation Center’s Community Dharma Leader program. She is the recipient of a Canada Council Explorations Grant and a BC Arts Council Grant. Margo has also edited two anthologies of world folklore: Seeds of Generosity: Storytelling in the Classroom and The Giving Heart: Folktales for Exploring Generosity. Her children’s book I Know a Crow, illustrated by local artist Joe Ziner, was published in 2014.

www.margostoryteller.net
=0D=0A=
